Hello, beauties! If you're on the fence about switching to organic skincare products, I hope this list gives you the push you need to pick the healthier side of the beauty industry!
1. Synthetic skin care products contain harmful ingredients!
Grab any synthetic skincare product at random from a shelf at your local big-box retailer and read its ingredients label. How many of these ingredients do you actually recognize? Probably not many. More importantly, how many of these ingredients are potentially harmful to your health?
Synthetic skincare products are produced from a cocktail of man-made chemicals such as sodium laurel, mineral oils, laureth sulphate, and other potentially toxic creations. Studies have demonstrated that these products also contain mineral oil, petroleum, parabens, and chemicals which may cause skin irritation, hormone imbalance, organ toxicity, and even cancer if used over an extended period.
2. Organic skincare products are made with naturally derived ingredients.
Now read the ingredients label of any organic skincare product. I would be willing to bet that you’ll recognize most - if not all - of the ingredients on the label. Even if they use their scientific name, they’ll often give the source of origin as well.
Organic products are made from ingredients found in nature, as nature intended. If the organic brand is true to its mission, it will source ingredients grown without the use of pesticides, herbicides, synthetic fertilizers, GMOs, or any range of additives or chemicals. Why? So you can ensure that everything you’re putting on your largest organ (your skin!) is nothing but good for your health.
3. Organic products are less prone to causing allergic reactions.
By removing harsh chemicals from their formulations, organic skincare products are less likely to cause allergic reactions, inflammation, or irritation. Because the ingredients in organic skincare are much easier to nail down if an allergic reaction does occur you can often pinpoint the source immediately. It’s always important to understand the ingredients if you have known allergies - but with organic ingredients, you’re much less likely to run into an unexpected allergic reaction.
4. Organic skincare products are more effective...if formulated correctly!
Plants grown organically are found to contain higher levels of antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals than their non-organic counterparts. Without the harmful chemicals added through pesticides and herbicides, there is also less worry of contamination in the product and thus less worry about harming your skin.
Additionally, organic skincare products tend to have closer to 95% active ingredients, versus the 5-10% in a synthetic skincare product. Wouldn’t you rather pay for products that focus on what’s actually helping you achieve your desired results?
5. Using organic products is better for your skin.
The synthetic ingredients found in non-organic products may seem fast-acting, but this is a facade. The chemical cocktails they are made with only provide the appearance of efficacy - most results are temporary at best, and require constant reapplication. This is because they are not treating the root cause, but rather putting a mask on it.
When we created the DermaNu Technology used in our Renū Face Cream, we formulated it to be fast-acting while actually treating the underlying causes of wrinkles, fine lines, and blemishes. We make your skin healthier and happier because we are giving it the vital nutrients it needs - and that’s something that just isn’t possible with synthetic ingredients.
6. Organic skincare is cruelty-free.
Under the guise of ‘protecting’ customers, the beauty industry has developed a poor reputation when it comes to animal testing. It really begs the question: If you’re worried that a synthetic ingredient might be harmful...why are you asking me to put it on my face?!
Luckily, organic products don’t have this same worry, as we know that our formulations are non-toxic because they come from naturally-occurring ingredients. And because there’s no worry about toxicity in our skincare products, there’s also no need to test them on any living being without their consent!
7. Organic ingredients are better for the environment.
Organic products use naturally sourced ingredients and are free from toxic pesticides and fertilizers. Because of this, they have a much smaller carbon footprint than their synthetic competition.
As you might have guessed, organic ingredients are sourced from organic farms. It should come as no surprise that organic farming is much more sustainable and overall better for the environment. It produces fewer waste byproducts, keeps our soil healthier, and removes unnecessary pollutants from our air and water supplies.
